SOLVED my own problem:

Apparently, all files must be actively hosted on a web server. They cannot reside simply in a folder on your computer. DOH!

Hope this helps others in the same boat.

Would any of you lovely people help this sunburned newbie to get the beautiful Slide.Show2 to work??

Here's the scene on my end:

1) ALL files from AND (except the default.html(s), .jpg, .pdf, .wmv, .doc) are in the SAME folder on my computer's Desktop.

2) My default.html looks like this:

<body class="dark">
  <object type="application/x-silverlight-2" data="data:application/x-silverlight-2," width="640" height="480">
   <param name="background" value="#000" />
   <param name="source" value="Vertigo.SlideShow.xap" />
   <param name="initParams" value="ConfigurationProvider=DarkTheme,DataProvider=XmlDataProvider;Path=Data.xml" />
   <a href="" style="text-decoration: none;">
   <img src="" alt="Get Microsoft Silverlight" style="border-style: none" /></a>

3) My data.xml file looks like this:

<data transition="CrossFadeTransition">

 title="My First Silverlight Album"
 description="First Attempt"
  title="Old Chevy"
  description="Old Chevy"
  thumbnail="sm_Old_Chevy.png" />
  description="Some Art"
  thumbnail="sm_Art.png" />

All that is returned (I'm using MS Expression Web 2 and IE 7 / Firefox 3) is a BLACK BOX.

What am I doing wrong?

Many thanks in advance,

I have exactly the same issue (just a black box).  Do I need to download ALL of those .cs files onto my host?  I assumed that everything was somehow already 'built-in' to the Vertigo.SlideShow.xap file.  Is that not correct?

I am running on a Linux host platform.

I've been struggling with this for about 2 weeks!

Thanks, Kevin

Also solved my own problem.  Needed to add a .htaccess file to the host telling it to deliver the xap file type as described here:

(& don't need all those cs files)

Good luck!
