Configure to point at a directory

Is there a way to configure Slide.Show in data.xml to point at a directory and get the pictures. For example you have a folder structure like this.

Images
Album1
Slide1.jpg
Slide2.jpg
Album2
Slide1.jpg
Slide2.jpg
...

Pseudo code for the data.xml file.

<data startalbumindex="5" transition="CrossFadeTransition">
<album
title="Album1"
description="These are photos of ..."
image="../../Images/a29.jpg"
slideimages="../../Images/Album1"
mode="simple">
</album>
<album
title="Album2"
description="These are photos of ..."
image="../../Images/a50.jpg"
slideimages="../../Images/Album2"
mode="readphotometadata"
</album>

There could be two modes - simple and readphotometadata. Simple would just display the images without displaying photo metadata. The readphotometadata mode would read the photo metadata and display it in the slideshow.

Thanks,
Brian

It probably wouldn't take much to write a dataprovider that you could just point at a directory and the code would automatically detect your albums and slides. Some functionality would be lost of course. For example, the slide name and description would have to be the same since all you would have is a file name. Same for Album name and description. But it could be done.

In the meantime, if you are up to the task, it is a relatively simple project to build a "datagenerator.ashx" handler that you can point your configuration to and allow the .ashx handler to dynamically build your data,xml file on the fly using whatever logic you wanted.

I'm going to add this as a future work item and we can let the community tell us how important it is.
